My little sister, Robin, has been incredibly ill for many months, which resulted in our recent visit to the Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN. For those of you who are not familiar with the Clinic, it is ranked #1 every year among American hospitals and is visited by patients from around the world including many heads of states and kings.
As it turns out, Robin is feeling much better on her own, and after having a plethora of tests done, it appears as if a nasty virus was behind her illness. While we were there, I served as the nurse and blogged about it on the Mayo Clinic’s Care Pages. I thought I’d share my favorite post here, as it sums up our hectic week in Rochester. Enjoy…

Dear Friends,
I am a bad bad nurse. Tomorrow the Mayo Clinic is back in business and Robin has opted for their 2 for 1 Monday Special- a Colonoscopy and an Endoscopy at the same time. To prepare for tomorrow, Robin has spent the afternoon and evening taking the colonoscopy prep elixir. Per usual, I was mixing the drinks and was pouring them out every fifteen minutes per the instruction street.
There was just a slight miscue on the dosages, and until Robin initially stopped due to projectile vomit, I had been giving Robin twice the dosage! Oy! I feel terrible, but we are all still laughing and let’s just say Robin keeps on going and going and going…
Patient #2 is doing well but has become more of a handful- I don’t think that it is a coincidence that the narcotics have fully worn off! She is quite sore and is walking around dutifully every hour. We can’t wait till she sheds her sweatpants and dons a bra, but until then, she is slowly on the mend.
